OUTREACH

Four afternoons a week Grin City Collective dedicates itself to community service and engagement in the greater Grinnell, Iowa, area.

Garden
Mid-March through October, two of those afternoons are spent in our 2,700 square foot garden, weeding, watering, and harvesting. Produce grown in the garden is donated directly to the weekly Community Meal, a free dinner every Tuesday which feeds over 100 of the local community. The Grin City garden replaces the meal's old dependence of canned vegetables with fresh, local produce. A smaller portion of the garden goes to the Collective's own meal co-op and Wednesday Family Meal.

Partnerships and Outreach
In addition to the garden, Grin City performs a number of outreach projects each week. While Grin City is an arts collective, not all of our outreach is directly arts related. Instead we use artistic and creative approaches in a variety of activities from after-school programs to re-shingling roofs.

Have a project for Grin City? Let us know! Contact Residency Coordinator Molly Rideout at molly@grinnellarts.org to propose an outreach project.

Want to sponsor a project? Grin City's mission of outreach takes a lot of resources. Help us fund one day of community outreach in an area of your choice. Sponsor a pre-existing project or suggest a new one. Want to get your hands dirty? Join the collective on your sponsor day and learn how we work together. Contact molly@grinnellarts.org for details.
